Cheaprvliving Forum

December, 2010
As much as I love the mobile life lived in a vehicle, I recognize it can be lonely.
Few people can understand why I would live in a tiny little van, car, trailer or
RV. A few envy it, but many more think it is crazy, or worse. So if you are new
to the life and have questions, or you have been doing it for years and just want
to share a life you love, it's good to have a place to gather in cyber space. That
is my hope for this forum. A place for newbies and old-timers to gather, learn
and share.

What are the rules?
  • BE KIND: Treat everyone with the dignity they deserve. Things will be
posted that you disagree with, and that's fine. It's perfectly okay to
respond and offer an alternative view. But, do it with an attitude of
kindness and helpfulness. The most important lesson I have learned in life
is I can be right or I can be happy, but rarely both. In this forum, there is
no room for proving someone else wrong, but alternative views offered in
a helpful attitude are always welcomed.
  • STAY ON TOPIC: Each forum has a topic and it is important that we stick
with it. The reason I feel that is important is because I view the forum as
a resource to everyone interested in vandwelling. After awhile there will
be a huge amount of material that will be invaluable. But, a resource that
isn't well indexed is worthless. The nugget of truth you want is in there,
but it is hidden in so much fluff and jumbled up "stuff," you can't find it.
The sub-forums are the index system that allows you to find what you are
looking for, so stay on topic. If you want to talk about, politics, religion, or
just visit, that is welcome in the off-topic forum.
  • DON'T HIJACK A THREAD: When someone asks a question, getting an
answer is important to them. What can happen is someone will answer that
question by brining up a different topic, and then the thread will drop the
original posters (OP) question to follow the new topic. That is a natural
thing, usually done with good intent. But it is very disrespectful to the
original poster. He goes away feeling slighted and his question not
answered. Please, don't change the topic of a question. If it naturally leads
into a slightly different topic, start a new post and thread.

So, welcome to the new forum, and please, if there is any way I can improve it,
please write me and let me know: akrvbob@gmail.com
