Quote:Why so serious?

I was referring to the hurricane and how he overlooked the nature aspect. Actually I like his creativity. I guess I don't understand if he was going to move inland why he didn't build there in the first place.

Quote:He has a greater vision of cutting loose the tether... and floating away... an autonomous mobile island country..

No man is an island
Meaning
Human beings do not thrive when isolated from others. Donne was a Christian but this concept is shared by other religions, principally Buddhism.
Origin
This is a quotation from John Donne (1572-1631). It appears in Devotions upon emergent occasions and seuerall steps in my sicknes - Meditation XVII, 1624:
"All mankind is of one author, and is one volume; when one man dies, one chapter is not torn out of the book, but translated into a better language; and every chapter must be so translated...As therefore the bell that rings to a sermon, calls not upon the preacher only, but upon the congregation to come: so this bell calls us all: but how much more me, who am brought so near the door by this sickness....No man is an island, entire of itself...any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee."

Speaking of duct tape, i was shopping for insulation panels, and found some all weather "white" coloured duct tape. They also had -40* duct tape, that was coloured "blue", and claims that it sticks more powerfully the lower the temp gets.

Ive done the funnel thing too.  Also used a filled one in the back of a larger toilet for less water waste, filled with gravel for a door stop, and used them for a piggy bank.

oh yea, mom would use the cut off top for cookie cutter

These are all sites for the same thing: Making a floating dock or island from pop bottles.

This is something I would love to do on the west coast somewhere. No rent or morgage payments! It would take a lot of time to collect enough bottles.
