I'd like to give myself a few negative ratings, because I am such a big meanie. The forum won't allow it. Feel free!

Last year someone published a book on trail riding in the Quartzsite area which you can pick up in many shops in the area. Looks pretty good, lots of color maps and GPS coordinates. Main drawback is it sells for something like $35.

I go to the Quartzsite area every year with a small trail bike and quad. There are trails everywhere. Alamo Lake area is my favorite for exploring trails because of the interesting canyons and wildlife. I'm heading south from Oregon today and will be in Quartzsite in a couple weeks.

I got that book last year, good book but they left out the road numbers. the problem for that area is there are so many trails/roads and the BLM keeps renumbering them so a map from a few years ago has all the wrong numbering. for up to date maps go to the entrance stations for the LTVA's off US-95 south of town. if I recall correctly the map was 5 bucks. highdesertranger

Thanks for the tip. I'll stop by one of the LTVA areas to see what they have.

Hi hmoth

Are you going to the RTR?  I wasn't planning on bringing my quad but if there are other riders around, it would be fun to explore the Qsite OHV areas.  I usually ride at the dunes.

I'm at Quartzsite now with the quad and bike. I'll stop by the RTR but like to camp away from other folks because I usually get up at 3 am.

Lots of great quad trails here and the LTVA entrance stations have $5 maps that show the main ones. Avenza maps has nice electronic ones for free that work on your cell phone.

I'll bring my quad then.  Highdesert, you, and I can go riding together with anyone else who brings their gear...always safer riding in groups out here not to mention more funSmile

Are trails pretty close to where you're parked right now?  Thanks for the map tip ... I'll grab one today when I get there.

You can ride right out of where the RTR is going to gather. Hundreds of miles of trails. The set of 4 maps I referred to in a previous post has been temporarily removed from the server by Avenza after I informed them that map #1 was miscalibrated by about 35 miles. It'll be back up once it's fixed.

Let's chat closer to the RTR dates and PM me your GPS coordinates ... I'll park some where close to you.  I prefer to go farther out as well because the noise from my quad leaving/coming back into camp.  I'm in the Glamis dunes right now but heading to Qsite this afternoon to ck out the RTR site (it's my first and just want to get the lay of the land).  So excited we can catch the trails right from camp.  I'll ck out Avenza in a few days.
