RTR weather forecast
#1
I'm posting this on New Year's Eve. The 10-day forecast, which takes us through the days leading up to RTR, shows highs in the 70s, lows in the mid-40s in Quartzsite. Winds in the 5MPH range. A very very slight chance of rain starting the 7th. It takes a while for things to warm up in the morning, but things will generally be mild—particularly if you're coming from somewhere with serious winter going on. However, there's no way of knowing yet if the trend will continue through RTR. Come prepared for the worst.

There is a persistent high pressure system over the SW now. I'm in the SW Colorado Mountains and we've had maybe 4 inches since it was cold enough to stick around. There is a small system forecast to come through next weekend, maybe another inch or two in the highest mountain elevations. I'd watch to see if that front changes in probability, but it likely won't amount to anything in Q.

86 days without precipitation in the central portion of New Mexico, nice and warm considering the season.

I only expect Quartzsite to be nicer than here!

Safe travels to all headed that way! (or ANY way)

If for no other reason than QZT is about 3,300 feet lower.
