so for all of you RTR veterans,  what works best for the chili and soup pot lucks?  I mean just bring a can of chili or soup? is anything needed more than anything else?  is a pound of cooked hamburger better than a can of Hormel?  is vegetable soup better than cream of something?  what about sides,  cheese,  corn bread,  crackers?  I know all this sounds silly,  but I had to ask.  highdesertranger
We were lucky last year and a new member, Peter, took over the job of assembling all of the donated ingredients into very wonderful chili and soups combinations. And he's coming back this year to do it again!! Yum.

Hopefully he'll notice this post and make some suggestions. It seems like single ingredients are best like a can of beans, tomatoes, vegetables or broth rather than an already made soup or chili. And fresh ingredients are good too but vegetables must be prepped, cleaned and chopped. Meat must be cooked.

Any sides that you feel like making or bringing will be very happily consumed! :-)
Not silly at all!! There will be an abundance of cans so ...

* Anything fresh is better than canned for either one.
* But, don't bring it raw and undiced/uncooked. We won't have time for that so a pound of cooked burger is great, a pound of raw burger will get sent home. Same with vegetables.
* No cream of anything soup
* Sides are great!!
