My situation is one where I just want to put reflectix up in the windows to reflect the sun, but I had an idea to possible cut costs in this matter. I thought about taking a piece of a cardboard box and cutting it out to fit my window and covering one side of it with aluminum foil. Would this do the same thing or would it just get too terribly hot to do anything with or worse be a possible fire magnet?
No work fine but maybe fragile.

The bubble wrap does nothing, it's the Mylar.

Collect a few balloons after birthday parties.
Ok thanks. Just wanted to make sure that it would not be a problem in any way. I have some ideas to make sure that it is not too terribly fragile. Smile

There's a video on YouTube where a guy using reflectix but, on the outside (facing outside the van), he covered with black felt so they would 1) add privacy while not having the silver attract attention, and 2) for easy attachment to the windows with velcro.

Does the black felt interfere with the reflectix ability to repel the heat?
Yes, totally useless.

If black is what you want then use black, skip the Reflectix.
