OK, Now THIS Was Odd .... - lenny flank - 01-27-2019

I just said “Hi” to George Takei in a mall in Brownsville TX. He’s in town to give a speech. I didn’t want to bother him since the poor guy can’t even go to a mall without being mobbed, but I had to tell him that I’ve been a Trek fan since I was 10. Smile

^^ I know some Trekkers who would happily give their soul to the devil in exchange for that ten seconds. Wink

Can we touch you? Wink

Why did it not start before age 10?!? Big Grin

Why did it not start before age 10?!?

How old were you in 1969? It seems Lenny was 10.

Trebor:
TOS debuted in 1966.

Otherwise, yes, that's an excellent reason for not becoming a fan until such an ancient age. Wink
I had this vague notion that Lenny was younger than me.

Edited to Add:
Regardless of the reason, I had assumed it was something outside of his control, and had not meant it as a negative.
Was just wondering if he'd grown up in a Geek deprived situation.
He's so Geeky, it would be all the more impressive to have achieved such despite a (possibly) deprived childhood. Wink

Awwwwww.   Cool
I was born in 1961. I didn't discover sci-fi till I was 10.

That sounds like potential fun, if only to say you were being there.

He has a book or two out, and his facebook is always very active. He's a social media phenomenon of the first order. Without his constant social media presence, it's hardly likely anything but hard core fans would know about him at anything near this level. But he probably has a way bigger following than anyone from Star Trek even though he was a minor character 50 years ago.

Suggest you try The Orville then. Great fun and very much in the spirit of the original, but with some great funny bits.
