Car covers yay or nay? - JuliaAnne2018 - 09-28-2019

Hello, I often sleep in a WalMart parking lot and may have to some nights even in the winter. I thought about covering my car to help block the wind but question whether that would look too suspicious. (Although one time I accidentally slept past park closing, and as I was about to leave, 2 cops questioned me and even mentioned WalMart is a good place to go. LOL)

A car cover wouldn’t be very stealth— plus it would take up additional space inside the car when not in use.

You might be able to get a similar result by using weather stripping around the doors.  Most of the heat loss in a car would be from the windows, so I’d use reflectix to create additional covering for them.  You might want to double up or even triple up the reflectix.

To help with heat loss, be sure to turn the climate control to the off position. Leaving it in the heat position leaves the outside vent open IIRC. I know I turn mine off when it is colder out and I don't feel that colder air coming in at the front floor (heating) vents.

I might end up staying with this couple I just met through the winter and putting things off til spring. I didn't wanna give up on my chance to bulld my own house on wheels. The job I have now should afford me to do that by the following winter.

How do you get the car covered and then get inside the car?

Mr. Noodly,

No idea. LOL I figured I'd climb under it to get to the door. But I decided to stay inside for the winter instead. Maybe next year I'll finally have finished my house on wheels I wanted to finish last year. I have a steady income, so I have a better chance of doing it.
