It goes without saying that nothing is foolproof. You just do the best you can and find a way to prevent the work-arounds as best as you can. For example, no car is theft proof, but with a few simple things you can move it from 10% safe to 70% safe. That is still a very, very good thing and worth doing.

Requiring a few proofs of ID prevent it from easily being done by everybody and moves it underground for only people who know the underground. That's still a very good thing. Then LEOs can focus there energy and attention on the underground where it should be.

I get why but some of it seems unnecessary. If you have a legit id that required all of the verification to obtain, than that id itself should serve as verification thereafter. I'm all for safety but adding unnecessary redundancy and inconvenience doesn't mean its actually making it more safe.

Hi Guys, I saw this thread on here a while back and thought I would provide some information because I just did this.
These days, you have to provide proof of address/residency, but they have some options that can be used if you don't have a fixed home. The JBMailroom address won't cut it, and the nice lady there specifically warned me about that. We went ahead and got the RealID licenses because the requirements are honestly not that different, and it is eventually required anyway.

What we did was got a receipt for rent at an RV park (a hotel will also suffice) for 30 days and signed a mutual affidavit that we live with each other without paying rent to the other.

It may seem bizarre, but the latter was suggested by the helpful folks at the Pahrump DMV. The former was suggested by Marianne at JBMailroom. Now, since we live in a cargo trailer, we found out that most Southern Nevada RV parks are run by snobs that our money wasn't good enough for since we didn't own a "real RV". Vans, tents and often RVs over 10 years old are not welcome at way too many of the parks here. We only needed 30 days, and weren't committed to even staying at physically the park, but that didn't matter. We eventually found a place off in the desert that took us for $220 plus electric for the month, and that's all we needed. Since then, the manager here gave us a job workamping, so we are actually staying here for a while rent-free. We got our licenses and registration, but I wanted to provide this info for the next folks who try this.

Thanks for the update crookedforkers. Eventually all the states will be forced to get in line and this will become country-wide. Nevada resisted for a long time but the feds have the money they need and they obey or the feds stop writing checks.

The days coming when you'll have to get a rent receipt for everything. You got lucky since you aren't paying much!

Which RV Park are you in so others can stay there too.

Hi crookedforkers,

Thanks,

I was going to post up another link but when I go to it I get the same error message. strange, if you do a search you will get their phone number an address, they are a Good Sam affiliate. maybe give them a call. highdesertranger
