Am planning my wedding vow renewal for my parents (53 years together) and compiling through their playlist. It's a mix of trop rock and 60s love songs

CCR brings back memories of muscle cars and young love.

ELP brings back fewer memories, too many altered states back then Smile "In the Beginning" is all time ELP fav tho.

Brock Berrigan "Celebration Song" brought a chuckle and had me moving a bit, I like it. The one NSFW lyric line had me LOL'ing hard.

Townes Van Zandt "Lungs"

Imo, his gift as a poet is as well demonstrated here as any.

https://youtu.be/3Rdm8LItAHs

Well, won't you lend your lungs to me?
Mine are collapsing
Plant my feet and bitterly breathe
Up the time that's passing.
Breath I'll take and breath I'll give
Pray the day ain't poison
Stand among the ones that live
In lonely indecision.

Fingers walk the darkness down
Mind is on the midnight
Gather up the gold you've found
You fool, it's only moonlight.
If you try to take it home
Your hands will turn to butter
You better leave this dream alone
Try to find another.

Salvation sat and crossed herself
Called the devil partner
Wisdom burned upon a shelf
Who'll kill the raging cancer
Seal the river at its mouth
Take the water prisoner
Fill the sky with screams and cries
Bathe in fiery answers

Jesus was an only son
And love his only concept
Strangers cry in foreign tongues
And dirty up the doorstep
And I for one, and you for two
Ai'nt got the time for outside
Just keep your injured looks to you
We'll tell the world we tried

Following my bliss, in the spaces between my thoughts.

An eco-ballad from Tony Joe White

"Closer To The Truth"

https://youtu.be/lycWErC0sv4

Strong instinct for survival
Romantically insane
Moving soft along the edge of time
Like a panther in the rain

Manipulated rebels
With a total disregard for the rules
When pride comes tumbling off the great white stallion
You move closer to the truth

And the search continues for the meaning
They build the cathedrals high
But we keep our weapons ready
Looming dark against the sky

They're taking down the rain forest
Changing it to a room without a view
And the big trees fall like dominoes
And we move closer
The eagle watches from the mountain
As the warriors turn into fools
And the dice are thrown on sacred ground
And they move closer to the truth

And who's gonna tell the children
How the rivers used to flow cystal blue
And we keep leaving scars on Mother Earth
And moving closer to the truth

Following my bliss, in the spaces between my thoughts.

And now for something completely different. Perfect for watching the sun fall behind the peaks as the unique singing insects raise their voices, the ravens gronk their way home, and the crickets provide the ceaseless backdrop...
