"Finally, here are the official Dates and Location of the Rubber Tramp Rendezvous (RTR) and Women’s RTR 2020. This year, we had a lot of trouble negotiating a Special Recreation Permit with the BLM; in fact, we were not able to. They wanted an enormous amount of money to hold the RTR on Public Land, and we simply could not afford to pay for it. So we had to fall back on Plan B, which was to hold it on land that was not controlled by the BLM.
The problem was that it is very hard to find a place large enough for 10,000 people to camp in the Quartzsite area. So this year, we are going to split the “event” portion of the RTR (the part where we actually gather in one small spot to hold classes, have social gatherings, a free pile, or the Talent Show) and we are going to camp in other spots.
The event will be held at the La Paz County Fairground, which is half way between Parker, Arizona, and Quartzsite, Arizona. It’s very near the intersection where Highway 95, heading straight north from Quartzsite, meets Highway 72 at a traffic light. To get to the Fairground, you go north through the light onto Center Ave (straight through if coming from Quartzsite, turn left if coming from Parker, turn right if coming from Bouse). The dates are January 18-27 for the RTR and January 14-17 for the WRTR.
***Please!!! DO NOT contact the La Paz County Fairground with questions. They do not have the staff to handle inquiries. For the most updated RTRs 2020 information, use this link: https://homesonwheelsalliance.org/2020rtrs/ ***
For camping, we will have a document on the website with a list of camping near to the Fairground. To show that people are part of the RTR or WRTR, we have a logo to print out, or stickers to buy, to display on your vehicle. By using a printed logo or sticker, we can meet each other, camp together and build community. The biggest complaint everyone has is that the RTR has gotten too big, NOW IT WON’T BE!! By breaking it up into small camping groups all around the area, no one group will be too big and yet you can still make life-changing friends and build community!
See you there!!
